Adriatic Metals PLC CEO Paul Cronin expects to accelerate ramp-up timeframe for Vares

Adriatic Metals PLC chief executive Paul Cronin joins Proactive London to talk through developments at the group’s Vares silver project in Bosnia & Herzegovina as it looks to begin mining ore in the coming months.

He says the project is currently running on schedule, with mining ore due to begin underground from “the end of October, early November”.

“We will generate a reasonable stockpile of material at-surface that can come into the plant, so where you would normally see a longer ramp-up timeframe, because we have that ore supply at surface […] we actually intend to hit nameplate capacity by the end of 2023.”

Cronin also talks about how the company is overcoming global supply chain and inflationary issues and the HR operation it put in place to enable it to find skilled local workers in a country that has little experience of underground hard-rock mining in over 30 years.
