Mark Zuckerberg takes aim against Apple’s new headset

Apple’s Vision Pro has made headlines in the past month, as celebrities such as Casey Neistat (a YouTube personality) and T-Pain (a singer and songwriter) wore it out. The “passthrough” function allowed them to view their surroundings when using it.

Passthrough is a feature found in the latest mixed-reality headsets. It allows users to see beyond their screen. The headset uses cameras mounted on the outside to provide a high-definition live video feed. This allows users to wear the headset while exercising or walking.

In a video taken using Meta Quest 3’s own passthrough, Zuckerberg stated: “I think Quest has the best value. I think Quest, overall, is the superior product.”

Apple was contacted for a comment.

Quest’s price difference is the reason why it’s so much more superior for most of the things people use headsets for. Zuckerberg, who founded Meta under Facebook’s old name in 2004, said.

Both companies’ investors have had contrasting fortunes in the last year. Meta shares, which owns Instagram, WhatsApp and other companies , have increased by 162 percent over the last year, while Apple stock has only risen slightly more than 20 percent in the same time period. Apple has lost its position as the most valuable American company on the stock market to Microsoft this month as it dropped below $3 trillion.
