The company confirmed on Friday that it is developing this alternative approach following discussions with its community, stakeholders and professional advisers. This move represents a significant shift from the wind-down process announced just last month.\n\nAccording to a statement published on its website, the potential plan involves the phased resumption of certain operations in an orderly manner. This would occur alongside distributions to creditors, subject to further legal, financial, operational and regulatory assessment. BitMart has appointed the law firm White & Case as its restructuring counsel. The firm is working with other professional advisers to evaluate the company’s options and formulate a framework for resuming business. The exchange stated that it hopes to provide an update on its progress by September 9.\n\nBitMart originally announced its intention to wind down operations on July 26, citing a review of its operating conditions, market environment and future strategic direction. At that time, the company indicated that trading services would be discontinued on August 26, with operations officially ending on January 31. The firm has now asked for patience from its user base while this work is carried out, promising to consult the community on any business resumption plan once it is launched.\n\nThis development occurs amid a broader trend of consolidation in the digital asset sector. Days before BitMart’s initial announcement, rival exchange BitMEX revealed plans to shut down following a strategic review of the business and the broader crypto industry. Additionally, cryptocurrency wallet SecondFI stated in July that it was planning to close after an attack stole 2.4 million dollars from its users. Meanwhile, other industry players such as Rain and Kraken are focusing on making it easier for consumers to use digital assets for purchases, with reports suggesting a growing emphasis on stablecoin liquidity layers for funding and cross-border settlement."}
