The transaction involves the purchase of Wind2, a developer with operations across the country. As part of the agreement, the staff employed at Wind2’s two UK offices in Flintshire, Wales, and Edinburgh, Scotland, will be integrated into Boralex’s existing operational structure.\n\nThe acquired portfolio includes the Windburn wind farm, a 72 megawatt site located in Perth and Kinross. This project is being developed in partnership with Octopus Energy Generation and currently has a pending application. If approved, the site will utilise a total of 14 turbines. The portfolio also encompasses the Lairdmannoch energy park in Dumfries and Galloway. This development is likewise awaiting approval and is designed to consist of 60 megawatts of wind capacity, 20 megawatts of solar power, and 20 megawatts of battery storage.\n\nJean-Christophe Dall’Ava, Boralex general manager for Europe, stated that the acquisition aligns with the company’s growth strategy in the UK market. He noted that Wind2 shares the organisation’s culture and vision for project development, which emphasises close collaboration with host communities to support energy security and the decarbonisation of the British economy. Boralex, which is already active in North America and France, has sought to diversify its geographic footprint by expanding into the UK. Geraint Jewson, Wind2 chairman and co-founder, said the handover to Boralex is the right time for the company to take the next step in its development and continue contributing to the UK’s transition to renewable energy."}
