The local council has placed an order for 6,000 lamppost charging points, marking the largest single initiative in Britain aimed at enhancing facilities for electric vehicles.\n\nThis ambitious project is part of a broader government initiative that allocates £380 million to bolster local electric vehicle infrastructure. The move comes as part of a concerted effort to address the growing demand for accessible public charging solutions in urban areas, particularly for residents without private parking.\n\nEstablished by Char.gy, a prominent operator within the sector, the contract allows Brighton to expand its charging capabilities significantly. Currently, there are around 74,000 public chargers across the UK, equating to approximately one charger per 18 electric vehicles.
