Simon Carter, the Chief Executive of British Land, a prominent player in the FTSE 100 real estate investment trust sector, is poised to transition to a new role with P3 Logistic Parks. This pan-European logistics firm, backed by Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund GIC, has its headquarters in Prague; however, Carter will continue to reside in London.

Carter’s departure from British Land follows a notable tenure, having joined the company in 2004. Over the years, he has navigated through various positions within its finance department, ultimately ascending to the role of Chief Executive in November 2020. This promotion came after he returned to British Land in 2018 as Chief Financial Officer, following a period at Quintain as Finance Director.

Under his leadership, British Land successfully diversified its investment strategy, marking its entry into the logistics asset class in 2021. This strategic shift positioned the firm as a market leader, particularly in the sectors of prime London office campuses and retail parks. At the latest quarterly review in December, British Land secured a position in the FTSE 100, further solidifying its status within the competitive real estate landscape.

During his interim results presentation in November, Carter remarked on the strong operational and financial performance achieved by the company in the first half of the year. He highlighted the key occupational fundamentals that underpin British Land’s core sectors, indicating a promising outlook for future growth.

Carter is expected to remain at British Land until a successor is appointed. This transitional phase aims to ensure continuity for the firm as it navigates its next chapter.
