Independent geologist Nigel Chapman has highlighted the significant expansion potential at Critical Mineral Resources PLC’s (LSE:CMRS, FRA:98J) Agadir Melloul copper project in Morocco following a recent site visit. Chapman indicated that the project demonstrates district-scale characteristics, with mineralisation continuing to extend eastward, southward and northward as drilling activities progress. Notably, less than 5% of the total land package has been drilled to date.

The sediment-hosted copper deposit presents attractive exploration characteristics, according to Chapman. The mineralisation outcrops at surface and dips gently eastward, whilst the mineralogy and geology have been well established through core drilling programmes completed thus far. This understanding enables the exploration team to follow known mineralisation rather than conducting speculative searches, representing a significant advantage from an exploration standpoint.

Chapman outlined a potential hub-and-spoke development model for the project, whereby a central processing facility would receive ore transported from satellite deposits as they are discovered across the broader land package. This operational structure would allow the project to expand in tandem with ongoing exploration activities, providing scalability as new deposits are delineated.

The geologist identified two key areas of focus for future monitoring. The first concerns whether the mineralogy of outlying deposits corresponds with the main mineralised zone. The second relates to whether mineralisation remains associated with the unconformity between the basement rock and overlying sediments, the same geological horizon that controls copper mineralisation at the primary Aouam target.

The project’s geological setting and the systematic expansion of known mineralisation across the licence area suggest considerable upside potential for Critical Mineral Resources as exploration programmes advance.
