In a significant move that has stirred the artificial intelligence sector, Elon Musk’s xAI has unveiled Grok-3, representing a bold strategic advancement in the increasingly competitive AI marketplace. The latest iteration of the chatbot, which seamlessly integrates with X (formerly Twitter), marks a decisive step in Musk’s endeavour to challenge established players including DeepSeek, OpenAI, and Google.

During a late Monday livestream, Musk, alongside three xAI engineers, proclaimed Grok-3’s superior capabilities, citing computing power “more than 10 times” that of its predecessor. The platform’s distinctive feature, dubbed “Big Brain” mode, enables complex research tasks, whilst its DeepSearch function provides advanced reasoning-based interactions.

Industry analyst Gil Luria of DA Davidson offers a measured assessment, noting that whilst Grok-3 reinstates xAI’s relevance in the open-source LLM space, the improvements over Grok-2 may not justify the substantial resources allocated to its development.
