Brant Standridge has been appointed to oversee all revenue-generating businesses at Huntington, a significant expansion of his existing role as president of consumer and regional banking. The promotion positions the executive to lead the bank’s core commercial and retail operations, consolidating responsibility for its primary income streams under a single leadership figure.

Standridge joined the $284 billion-asset lender in 2022, initially serving as president of consumer and business banking. His career prior to Huntington included a tenure at Truist, the North Carolina-based institution formed by the 2019 merger of BB&T and SunTrust. At Truist, he served as chief retail community banking officer, a position he held from the completion of the merger until his departure. Before that, he spent more than a decade at BB&T, where he was a member of the executive leadership team and held various roles including regional president and retail banking responsibilities.

During his time at Huntington, Standridge established a growth council designed to identify long-term revenue opportunities by bringing together senior bank leaders. His scope of responsibility expanded in 2023 to include the regional bank division. He also led the integration of Veritex and Cadence banks, two Texas-based lenders acquired by Huntington over the past year as part of its strategy to expand its presence in Texas and the Southeast.

Chairman and CEO Steinour, who previously held the president title, praised Standridge for his deep banking experience and operating discipline. Steinour stated that Standridge has played a key role in advancing the bank’s growth agenda and strengthening alignment across its businesses. He described Standridge as a champion of the company’s culture and values, noting that in his expanded role, he will be responsible for the continued revenue growth and performance of the bank.

Steinour indicated that he plans to remain as chairman and CEO for several more years, focusing on company strategy and execution. In a related leadership development, Ameesh Vakharia, a veteran of USAA and Truist, was named chief marketing and digital products officer last week. This newly created role reports directly to Standridge, with Vakharia tasked with leading integrated marketing and digital products to strengthen the bank’s brand and customer growth.
