Sir Jony Ive, the creative force behind Apple’s iconic design rebirth, has struck a landmark agreement with OpenAI, the artificial intelligence leader behind ChatGPT. The deal, valued at a staggering $6.5 billion (£4.8 billion), will see Ive’s latest start-up, io, merge with OpenAI in a bid to reshape technology through cutting-edge hardware and forward-thinking innovation.

For over two decades, Ive played a pivotal role in Apple’s rise to global dominance, leading the design of revolutionary products such as the iMac and iPhone. He left Apple in 2019 to establish LoveFrom, a creative collective of designers, engineers, and innovators across various disciplines.
