The move aligns the group’s operating entities, including Nexos, Powerstar and OSL Consulting, under the Nexos Group banner to create a unified proposition for clients. As part of this transformation, the businesses will be renamed Nexos Consulting, Nexos Power and Nexos Solutions. Kelton, however, will retain its existing independent identity while remaining part of the wider group structure. The primary objective of this consolidation is to simplify the client experience and enhance operational efficiency by presenting a cohesive platform for accessing the company’s full range of services.\n\nDerek Thomson, Chief Operating Officer at Nexos Group, stated that the rebrand reflects the practical reality of how the businesses already collaborate. He explained that the entities currently offer integrated services and that the renaming process is designed to create a simpler engagement model. Thomson noted that operating as one group allows the company to work more efficiently and benefit from the combined strengths of its constituent parts. He added that retaining Kelton’s established reputation and market position was deemed the most effective approach, allowing it to benefit from closer collaboration across the group without diluting its distinct brand identity.\n\nThe structural change coincides with a new phase of growth led by Group Chief Executive Dan McAteer. His experience spans engineering, procurement and construction projects, as well as senior leadership roles within the energy industry. The new structure aims to provide customers with a clearer route into the company’s capabilities, whether they require strategic consulting support, engineering expertise, procurement services or project delivery. Thomson emphasised that the goal is to give the customer base a cohesive platform through which they can access the full-service offering, making it simpler and clearer for clients to engage with the group regardless of the specific solution they require.\n\nNexos Group continues to view oil and gas as a cornerstone of its operations, particularly in late-life asset management. However, the company is increasingly applying its North Sea expertise to adjacent markets. Thomson highlighted that the group’s heritage has provided a strong engineering foundation, which is now being leveraged to expand into power, energy resilience and infrastructure. With decades of experience in the offshore sector, the group is positioned to support emerging opportunities in power infrastructure, including the growing demand for off-grid and behind-the-meter power solutions as organisations seek greater control over energy supply, reliability and costs.\n\nPower has emerged as a significant growth area for the group, supported by the capabilities developed through Powerstar, now known as Nexos Power. The division has built expertise in voltage optimisation, battery energy storage and off-grid power systems. These technologies are becoming increasingly important as businesses face grid constraints and pressure to improve resilience. Thomson noted that the division has extensive expertise in helping customers reduce energy demand while improving resilience and stability, a capability that is critical as organisations look for greater control over their energy infrastructure.\n\nA notable recent project involves work on Ascension Island, where the group is helping to modernise the remote territory’s isolated electricity network. Nexos Group is working with Encompass, the client responsible for operating and maintaining the island’s power station and utilities on behalf of the BBC World Service. The project integrates renewable generation, battery storage and advanced energy management technologies to reduce diesel consumption while improving energy security. The scheme is expected to cut diesel use by approximately 42 percent, creating a more resilient and sustainable energy system in one of the most operationally challenging environments in the South Atlantic.\n\nLooking ahead, Nexos Group has identified industrial manufacturing, infrastructure, chemicals and utilities as key growth sectors, particularly in major UK industrial clusters such as Humberside and Teeside. International growth also remains a priority, with Kelton’s established Middle East presence providing a platform for wider overseas expansion. The group’s digital expertise is expected to support innovation across its service offering, helping customers make better-informed decisions. Alongside the rebrand, the group has strengthened its leadership team with several strategic appointments and continues to invest in people by supporting apprentices, graduates and trainees.
