The new offering, detailed in a press release dated 10 September, is initially focused on investment banking and equity research. The tool is designed to assist bankers in developing research, constructing financial models and creating customised client materials. The development of the product was shaped by design partnerships with Morgan Stanley and Evercore, according to the company.\n\nOpenAI stated that reliable access to data and the creation of high-quality artifacts were identified as the primary pain points for partner teams. The company indicated that insights gained from these collaborations will inform post-training processes, drive product improvements and guide its expansion into other categories within financial services. The new experience combines built-in financial data with the reasoning capabilities of the GPT-6 Astra model. OpenAI noted that the platform will incorporate newer models as they are released to maintain performance standards.\n\nThe release outlines several key features of the new service. These include datasets covering earnings transcripts, financial statements, company fundamentals and private companies. The platform also provides access to customers’ existing data subscriptions and offers more reliable connections to financial data providers. Leveraging GPT-6 Astra, the system handles information retrieval, financial reasoning and artifact generation. It is capable of converting analysis into valuation models, research notes and pitchbooks. OpenAI acknowledged that a single solution may not address all industry needs, emphasising its long history of collaborating with innovators to unlock novel AI solutions. The company added that financial services firms and developers can utilise its API to build specialised applications tailored to their specific requirements.\n\nThis launch follows a broader trend in the artificial intelligence sector. PYMNTS reported in March that vertical AI startups are attracting significant investor attention as venture funding flows toward companies automating specialised industry workflows. In April, the publication noted that AI is going vertical, with an increasing number of companies selecting specific industries to rebuild workflows from the ground up. In May, competitor Anthropic announced the debut of 10 new AI agents focused on financial services. Those agents are designed to automate time-consuming tasks such as creating pitchbooks and conducting know-your-customer checks."}
