Poolbeg Pharma PLC has received a Notice of Allowance from the Israeli Patent Office for its POLB 001 cancer immunotherapy-induced cytokine release syndrome patent application. The clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company is developing POLB 001 as a potentially preventative oral therapy targeting a serious immune reaction triggered by certain cancer treatments.

Cytokine release syndrome represents a significant and potentially life-threatening complication arising from specific cancer therapies. The Israeli decision adds to the company’s expanding intellectual property portfolio, following a grant decision in Europe and formal grants in both Australia and Canada.

The patent application encompasses the use of p38 MAPK inhibitors, including POLB 001, to prevent cancer immunotherapy-induced cytokine release syndrome.
