The positions, which include project managers, port operators, and mechanical and electrical technicians, are focused on turbine pre-assembly works. Recruitment has been active in recent months, with these roles designed to support project activity through to the anticipated completion of the wind farm in mid-2028.\n\nThe facility was designated as the project’s marshalling harbour in May 2026. It will serve as a storage and preparation site for turbine components destined for the Dogger Bank B and C phases, each possessing a capacity of 1.2GW. Turbine installation is currently underway at Dogger Bank B following the completion of phase A earlier this year, while offshore installation works for phase C are scheduled to commence next year.\n\nThe £9bn development is being pursued through a joint venture between SSE, Equinor, and Vårgrønn, with ownership stakes of 40 per cent, 40 per cent, and 20 per cent respectively. Across its four phases, the scheme is projected to become the largest single offshore wind farm globally. An independent economic impact assessment from last year indicated that the project could generate £6.1bn for the UK economy over its lifetime.\n\nScottish energy minister Stephen Gethins highlighted the strategic importance of Scotland’s ports in supporting the energy transition and offshore wind growth, citing Maraen Port of Nigg as a key driver of regional economic opportunity. SSE Renewables offshore wind director Steve Wilson stated that the new roles demonstrate the project’s continued delivery of economic benefits for Scotland and the wider UK, noting that Nigg’s facilities and skilled workforce will strengthen the domestic supply chain.\n\nThe port is operated by Maraen, which recently announced a £30m investment in its Nigg facility. Maraen CEO Yoshihiro Hayakawa said the work builds on previous experience supporting SSE’s Beatrice and Seagreen projects, reflecting the infrastructure and capabilities developed at Nigg to support large-scale offshore wind operations safely and efficiently."}
