Reuters reported that Samsung Electronics had agreed to purchase Oxford Semantic Technologies.
Thw British startup specializes in technology which can be used for artificial intelligence applications. Oxford Semantic is a specialist in knowledge graph technologies, which store information as a web of interconnected ideas that mirrors human reasoning.
Samsung stated in a press release that this can be used to personalise AI apps such as the on-device AI found on Samsung smartphones.
The deal’s value was not disclosed. Samsung’s decision comes only a few weeks after SoftBank, owner of UK-chip designer Arm Holdings acquired British chipmaker Graphcore in its investment into artificial intelligence.
