Steadright Critical Minerals has been awarded a mining licence for its TitanBeach titanium project in Morocco, the company announced on Thursday. The approval covers an area of approximately 16 square kilometres, measuring four by four kilometres, and was granted by Moroccan authorities through NSM Capital Sarl, in which Steadright holds a 76.5 per cent stake.

The licence represents a significant milestone for the region regarding the scale of designated mining approvals, according to the firm. Earlier exploration work conducted at the 192 square kilometre site in 2025 identified potential deposits of ilmenite, titanomagnetite, magnetite, leucoxene and rutile-bearing sands. These findings included iron oxide values of up to 79.5 per cent and titanium dioxide levels as high as 14.9 per cent.

Titanium is classified as a critical mineral by the United States, European Union and Canada due to its essential role in defence, aerospace, medical and industrial technologies. The metal is valued for its unique strength-to-weight ratio and corrosion resistance, with few viable substitutes. It is primarily utilised in two forms: titanium dioxide for pigments and titanium metal alloys for aerospace applications.
