The super-regional lender intends to recruit approximately 10 bankers in each state to serve commercial clients. This move builds on the institution’s existing presence in those regions, where it already maintains teams focused on wealth management and middle-market banking.\n\nThe expansion is part of a broader strategy to deepen relationships with corporate customers across the United States. An executive noted that the bank’s client centers in Florida, despite the absence of traditional branches, already employ 1,400 staff members. These employees work across mortgage, wealth management, and middle-market banking divisions. The new business bankers will collaborate with these existing teams to identify and pursue opportunities for commercial clients. This cross-functional approach allows the bank to leverage insights from wealth management teams, who frequently encounter potential business banking prospects during their client interactions.\n\nU.S. Bank’s business banking segment currently serves approximately 75,000 companies with annual revenues ranging from $2.5 million to $50 million. The institution is focused on becoming the primary operating bank for larger and more complex clients. Although the bank has a limited number of such high-value customers at present, it aims to grow this segment. The executive stated that competition for both clients and talent remains intense across all markets. However, the bank’s collaborative culture and sophisticated tools for identifying target companies are attracting experienced bankers from other large financial institutions.\n\nThis recruitment drive follows similar expansions in other major markets. Last year, the bank added business banker teams in Las Vegas, Houston, Chicago, and Charlotte, North Carolina. In the current period, approximately 10 bankers have been added in Dallas, and a similar number are being hired in Phoenix. In total, about 50 customer-facing roles have been filled this year. The bank has not disclosed the total number of bankers it expects to hire over the next 12 months. The strategy reflects a wider effort to integrate different business lines and enhance connectivity for clients seeking comprehensive financial services."}
