Harvey Seeks New Funding Round at Elevated Valuation

Legal artificial intelligence startup Harvey is reportedly in discussions to raise $500 million, which would value the company at $15.5 billion. This reported figure represents a significant increase from the previous valuation of $11 billion achieved during its March funding round where it secured $200 million. The news emerged following reports that the firm’s annualised revenue has increased by more than 80 per cent since January, rising from $190 million to over $350 million.

A spokesperson for Harvey declined to comment on these specific details when contacted regarding the report published in August. However, during its earlier funding announcement in March, the company stated that its AI-powered products streamline workflows across contract analysis, due diligence, compliance and litigation. At that time, it noted operations involving more than 25,000 custom agents serving over 1,300 customers across 60 countries.

Earlier this year on July 28, the company confirmed investments from Growth Equity at Goldman Sachs Alternatives and J.P. Morgan Growth Equity Partners. CEO Winston Weinberg described securing such marquee investors as critical for scaling operations during their next stage of growth. The legal technology sector continues to attract substantial capital, with funding surpassing $2.4 billion in October alone.

Competitors within the space have also seen activity recently. Norm Ai raised $120 million in a Series C round valuing it at $1.2 billion. Anthropic added new tools for its Claude platform tailored for legal professionals in May, while Legora secured an extension of its financing and surpassed $100 million in annual recurring revenue this year.
