Innovate UK selects record number of women for innovation awards

The Women in Innovation cohort announced today marks the largest selection to date from Innovate UK, with one hundred female founders recognised across the United Kingdom. The initiative specifically targets entrepreneurs developing high-potential technology businesses that demonstrate significant promise within their respective sectors.

Every selected founder will receive twelve months of tailored business support designed to aid growth and development during critical stages. Additionally, sixty-one recipients have been awarded a grant worth £75,000 each to further accelerate their commercial activities and market expansion efforts.

The cohort features diverse technological solutions including wearable devices capable of detecting dehydration risks in older adults from Ellyfe, carbon-negative alternatives to plastic foam packaging developed by Carbon Cell, and artificial intelligence systems that reduce MRI scan times by up to ninety per cent through GenScan AI. Emily Nott, head of inclusive innovation at Innovate UK, stated the organisation is proud to support these inspiring founders as they navigate their growth trajectories.

This latest selection coincides with the tenth anniversary of the programme which has reportedly seen record levels of engagement this year according to officials. The awards aim to create pathways for more women-led businesses to become industry giants while delivering significant economic and social impact through innovation throughout the nation.
