Ithaca Energy joins FTSE 100 following strong quarterly performance

North Sea operator Ithaca Energy has secured a place in the FTSE 100 index, effective 21 September. The promotion reflects a significant increase in the company’s stock market value, driven by positive quarterly results and recent merger and acquisition activity. This elevated status is expected to broaden the firm’s investment appeal by introducing it to a wider pool of potential investors.

Executive chairman Yaniv Friedman attributed the achievement to the company’s ongoing efforts in optimisation, growth, and shareholder value delivery. He noted that the updated position unlocks new opportunities, including engagement with new stakeholders. The inclusion in the index signifies that the firm now ranks among the 100 largest publicly traded companies on the London Stock Exchange based on total market capitalisation.

The promotion follows the release of first-quarter results for 2026, which reported a profit of $67 million. The company also raised its full-year dividend guidance to above $500 million. Ithaca Energy has stated its intention to continue exploring merger and acquisition opportunities while awaiting regulatory approvals for the Rosebank and Cambo projects. Recent activity includes key stake buyouts in the Cygnus and Seagull fields, amid reports that supermajor BP is planning to divest its North Sea portfolio.
