Siemens Gamesa Returns To Profitability After Four Year Slump

Siemens Energy has reported a significant turnaround as its wind turbine division generates profit for the first time since 2022. The group tripled quarterly profits to €1.62 billion, with revenue growth of between three and five per cent driven by improved capacity utilisation at manufacturing sites including one in Hull.

The specific results from Siemens Gamesa show a clear recovery after a difficult period marked by declining orders last quarter. Despite this dip, the division recorded a profit of €56 million for the second quarter as it works through its order book and expects to break even within the current year. Chief executive Christian Bruch described returning to profitability in a single quarter as a fantastic achievement for his team.

Financial figures indicate that profit before special items more than tripled compared with the third quarter of fiscal 2025, while global electricity demand remained robust during this period. Third-quarter sales rose by 18.5 per cent to €11.45 billion, slightly exceeding market expectations. The company now anticipates reaching upper levels of its ten to twelve per cent profit margin target in 2026.

Beyond the wind sector, Siemens Energy noted increased demand for gas turbines resulting from expansion projects involving AI data centres in the United States and power plants across the Middle East. All divisions delivered strong improvements overall, with Siemens Gamesa contributing most significantly to these results as efficiency continues to improve alongside record orders.
