Tertiary Minerals PLC has reported preliminary drilling results from its Mushima North project in Zambia, indicating that the higher-grade copper mineralisation extends across the northern section of Target A1. The company, which trades on AIM under the ticker TYM, disclosed the findings from its ongoing infill drilling campaign on Tuesday morning.
Preliminary portable X-ray fluorescence analysis returned an intersection of 45 metres at 0.41 per cent copper and 0.28 per cent zinc from a depth of 12 metres. This broader intersection included a higher-grade zone of six metres grading 1.01 per cent copper. Additional intersections from the initial drilling yielded 55 metres at 0.32 per cent copper and 0.29 per cent zinc, alongside 73 metres at 0.29 per cent copper and 0.38 per cent zinc.
The first 12 drill holes also produced indicative silver readings reaching up to 214 grammes per tonne. The company emphasised that these silver readings remain semi-quantitative in nature, whilst all reported intersections represent downhole widths with true widths yet to be determined.
The infill drilling programme has thus far supported the existing exploration target of 15 to 30 million tonnes at 40 to 60 grammes per tonne silver equivalent. This work precedes efforts to delineate a JORC-compliant mineral resource estimate for the project.
Tertiary Minerals has completed 22 holes totalling 2,175 metres of its planned 4,000-metre drilling programme at Mushima North. The company stated that certified laboratory results from the drilling campaign are expected to be released in the coming weeks, which should provide greater clarity on the grade and extent of the mineralisation.
The Mushima North project forms part of Tertiary’s broader portfolio of base metal and battery metal exploration assets. The current drilling programme represents a significant step towards establishing the project’s resource potential and advancing it through the exploration and development pipeline.
