The UK Semiconductor Centre is heading a British technology delegation to attend SEMICON in Taiwan with the aim of fostering cross-border commercial and supply chain partnerships. The group will represent the domestic ecosystem at the UK Pavilion, highlighting expertise across chip design, intellectual property, compound semiconductors, integrated photonics, advanced materials, manufacturing equipment and AI hardware.
This mission supports the wider government strategy to integrate local design capabilities into global hardware supply chains. Currently over 700 semiconductor-related businesses operate in the United Kingdom, generating more than £10bn annually. By establishing direct links with Taiwan’s manufacturers and networks, the centre hopes to accelerate technology commercialisation, attract investment and improve resilience for scaleups.
Andy McLean, chief executive of the UK Semiconductor Centre, noted that both nations possess a long heritage in semiconductors and offer complementary strengths globally. He stated the goal is to connect British innovators with local manufacturing depth while assisting Taiwanese firms in identifying partners and new opportunities within both markets. Industry leaders are encouraged to engage directly during their visit to explore collaborative possibilities.
