Panther Metals is expanding its Phase 1 drilling programme at the Wishbone prospect in Ontario after the first two holes intersected multiple zones of massive and semi-massive sulphide mineralisation.
Panther Metals Plc (LON: PALM) said its drilling contractor is commissioning a second diamond-core rig for mobilisation to the Obonga Project from Manitoba. The additional capacity is expected to accelerate exploration beyond the original 2,000-metre drilling budget.
The first hole, BR26-WB-P1-1, reached 300 metres and intersected nine visually identified sulphide zones between 77.75 metres and 245 metres downhole. These included 3.45 metres of pyrrhotite-dominated massive sulphide and 9.9 metres of semi-massive sulphide. The second hole, BR26-WB-P1-2, also intersected the targeted volcanogenic massive sulphide horizons along strike.
Further pads have been prepared and a fifth is expected to be ready before the second rig arrives. Panther cautioned that the new core has not yet been cut, sampled or laboratory assayed, so the current observations remain visual.
Adding a second rig signals management confidence in the emerging geological model and increases the pace at which Panther can test the potential scale of the Wishbone system. The key next catalyst will be laboratory assays, which are required to establish grades and determine whether the visually logged sulphides translate into economically meaningful mineralisation.
