Aberden Norway Gateway expands to Stavanger for energy networking

The Aberdeen Norway Gateway event series has expanded its reach to include a networking session in Stavanger, Norway. This addition took place during the ONS 2026 conference and attracted more than 70 attendees. The initiative, organised by Granite PR, aims to strengthen international business connections within the energy sector. The event served as an extension of the annual gathering traditionally held in Aberdeen, now in its 13th year of operation.

The networking evening was held at Villa 22, overlooking the Stavanger harbour. The session focused on identifying key challenges and opportunities facing both traditional and renewable energy industries. Speakers addressed the importance of collaboration and communication across the North Sea region. The event was supported by a range of organisations, including Energy Voice, the Net Zero Technology Centre, Aberdeen City Council, and Invest Aberdeen. Other partners included Scottish Development International, the Energy Industries Council, Energy Transition Zone, the City of Stavanger, Norwegian Offshore Wind, and Invest Rogaland.

The Gateway series was established in 2013 with the Aberdeen Houston Gateway. The specific Aberdeen Norway Gateway was created in 2014 to maximise synergies within supply chains. As the energy sector has evolved, the scope of discussions has broadened from traditional oil and gas to include offshore wind, energy transition, and technology. Brett Jackson, founder and managing director of Granite PR, stated that the value of the concept extends beyond individual events. He noted that the aim is to create environments conducive to fostering relationships that develop into business opportunities. Jackson added that the events provide informal access to first-hand intelligence to help delegates establish or grow their presence in international locations.

The recent Stavanger event paves the way for upcoming activities in the Gateway series. An Aberdeen Guyana Gateway is scheduled for 10 September, focusing on the rapidly growing South American market. A further event on 18 September will concentrate on supply chain opportunities in Denmark. The programme continues to bring together companies, industry organisations, economic development representatives, and decision-makers from key locations to cultivate relationships across the energy sector.
