Shell moves global operations staff from Aberdeen to London

Shell has announced that certain employees based in Aberdeen will relocate to its London hub. The company stated that the move is intended to concentrate specific roles in the capital to facilitate greater collaboration. This adjustment forms part of a broader effort to align the organisation with evolving business needs and maintain competitiveness.

The affected personnel are currently based at the Kingswells offices and work on projects across the globe rather than the North Sea. Shell confirmed that the majority of these positions support global operations instead of UK-based activities in Aberdeen. The company has not disclosed the precise number of jobs involved in the transfer.

The relocation is scheduled to take place in 2027. It will not impact other Shell staff at Kingswells or those working at Adura, the joint North Sea operation with Equinor. This decision follows a recent period of financial growth, with Shell reporting that second-quarter profits more than doubled due to rising oil prices linked to the Iran war.
