AIM-listed UK Oil and Gas has announced a corporate rebrand to UK Energy Group, a move designed to reflect its strategic pivot away from onshore hydrocarbon production. The company will adopt the new name and switch its ticker symbol from UKOG to UKEN on 11 September, while its ISIN remains unchanged. This alignment with its subsidiary of the same name underscores a broader focus on geological energy storage and clean power generation.
The rebrand follows a series of financial moves aimed at funding hydrogen infrastructure. In 2025, the firm issued new shares to raise one million pounds for projects in South Dorset and Yorkshire. Additionally, it secured 500,000 pounds from investors to acquire land for a salt cavern hydrogen storage site in East Yorkshire. These investments support plans for an energy hub at a former Royal Navy port in Dorset, where the company intends to develop a one billion cubic metre hydrogen-ready salt cavern facility.
Concurrently, the group has been divesting its traditional hydrocarbon assets. In June, Energy B acquired the Horse Hill oilfield near Gatwick airport for over one million pounds. This sale followed a 2024 lawsuit by climate campaigners that challenged the site’s development. In July, the company sold two onshore oil and gas licences to Servatec Holdings for 400,000 pounds. The transaction covered its 10 per cent interest in PL211 and a five per cent interest in PEDL070, which include the Horndean and Avington oil fields in Hampshire. The firm is understood to retain its fully owned PEDL234 licence at Loxley and Godley Bridge for natural gas and hydrogen feedstock appraisal.
